WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Working On Splitting World Titles, Vince McMahon’s “Final Obstacle”

Loosening the ties. There are all kinds of titles in the wrestling world but only a few of them are at the top level of importance. Those are the titles that fans talk about more than most and the titles that signify that a wrestler is at the top of the company. It can be a game changer for a wrestler to win one of them and it seems that more wrestlers could have a chance to win a major title in the future.

Roman Reigns is scheduled to defend the WWE and Universal Titles at WrestleMania 39 in a single match after holding both titles since WrestleMania 38. The titles have not been unified and are still seen as two individual championships. According to WrestleVotes by way of GiveMeSport, Triple H is planning to split the titles in two, hopefully by Summerslam in August. WrestleVotes says that there was never a plan for Reigns as a double champion after WrestleMania 38 and it is described as “the final obstacle” for the new regime to overcome. There is no word on how the change would be made.

Opinion: This is something that does seem to have merit, as WWE can have two featured attractions rather than the one World Champion. Your mileage on the change may vary, but what matters is finding a way to appeal to the largest amount of fans possible. That very well may be by having two World Champions again, and now it seems that WWE could be heading in that direction.
