Not everyone is a fan. Selling is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s abilities as otherwise, almost nothing that happens in a match matters. A wrestler has to make the fans believe that they are seeing some drama taking place. Seeing someone not exactly in any trouble or suffering any damage in a match is not going to make things work. Some wrestlers were not thrilled with the selling of a legend earlier this week.
The big story on this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Shawn Michaels confronting Randy Orton over Orton attacking Ric Flair the previous week. This resulted in Orton attacking Michaels and laying him out with the RKO into the Punt. Drew McIntyre ran out and chased Orton off before taking an RKO of his own to end the show. Michaels stayed in the ring throughout McIntyre and Orton’s showdown and it did not go so well.
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray and former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Velvet Sky both criticized Michaels’ selling on this week’s Monday Night Raw. Both Ray and Sky felt that Michaels should have stayed down on the mat after taking the Punt. After being Punted, Michaels pulled himself up in the corner and checked on McIntyre to end the show, but did not do anything physical with Orton. Michaels was also checked by medics and seemed out of it from the Punt.
An RKO and a punt to the head from Randy FUCKING Orton and Shawn is on his feet??????????????????#WWERaw@BustedOpenRadio

So Shawn takes Orton’s RKO PLUS punt to the head & sits himself up in the corner & tries to get up like nothing happened.Basically no selling both moves.Way to bury Randy. Then Drew takes RKO alone & stays down selling like ur supposed to. Complete disrespect to Orton by Shawn.?????

When u take someone’s finish, it’s more than just your face u sell. Imagine for instance, me taking Kong’s implant buster & trying to get up or crawl away, and only selling with my facial expressions. Ya just don’t do that. Its very disrespectful to the person executing the move.

Michaels took a beating this week. Check out how it went down:
Opinion: I’m not sure on this one. It’s true that Michaels didn’t stay down after the Punt, but at the same time, Orton hit the RKO and followed with the Punt almost immediately. He didn’t set it up as he usually did and that could be the reason why it didn’t have the same impact. Also, the focus was on Orton attacking him in general and it’s not like Michaels grabbed a chair and chased Orton off. It wasn’t a big deal and Michaels sold it well enough to get the point across.
What did you think of the angle? Did Michaels sell it well? Let us know in the comments below.
