Wrapping It Up: 64 Year Old Hall Of Famer Announces His Retirement Match

Save the date. Retirement is a complicated issue in wrestling as you never know when you are going to see someone hang up their boots for good. There are all kinds of wrestlers who have said that they are ready to retire but then come back for one more match down the line. It still means something when someone announces that they are finishing their career though and now another legend has announced his retirement date.

This week on AEW Dynamite, Sting announced that his retirement match will take place at AEW Revolution 2024. The show’s date has not been announced yet, though the show’s previous four editions have taken place in late February or early March. There is also no word on who Sting will be facing. Sting, who will turn 65 years old in March 2024, made his AEW in-ring debut at AEW Revolution 2021. He was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016.

Opinion: This is something that was going to come at some point and it is kind of remarkable that it took this long. Sting can still do well in the ring and it is great to see him hanging up his boots while he can still do so. Hopefully he has some kind of a special match on the big stage as he has certainly earned this kind o a major retirement match over the years.
