The Elite is spreading. AEW has gone from what was described as nothing more than a t-shirt company into one of the hottest and more important wrestling companies in the world in a very shot amount of time. They have a deep roster of talent that fans seem to want to see and that means there are a lot of people outside of the United States that want to see them as well. That was made very clear over the weekend when one of the bigger AEW stars became a major champion in another country.

Over the weekend, AEW star Kenny Omega wrestled on AAA Wrestling’s Heroes Imortales event in Veracruz, Mexico. Omega was in one of the featured matches on the show where he successfully defeated Fenix to become the new AAA Mega Champion (the company’s main singles title). The win ended Fenix’s (a fellow AEW star) reign at 420 days, though he only defended the title twice during the reign. In a post match interview, Omega announced that he would bring the Mega Title to AEW in the future.

Here’s the new champ. Check out Omega’s post title win interview:

Opinion: This is something that may not sound like the biggest surprise, but there is something here that gets my attention: AEW wrestlers performing in prominent roles elsewhere. AAA may not be the most popular promotion in the United States but it is certainly a promotion with some value. It gives some other companies the hope that they could use some of AEW’s talent in the future, which should do a lot of good things for the other companies’ future. AEW is a big deal, but they only run one night a week. Why not let the talent get some attention elsewhere?
