Maybe January was a bit too hopeful. Finn Balor recently appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast to give an update on his injury status. According to Balor his goal is to return to the ring at “Wrestlemania XXXIII” and while there’s been discussion of him coming back sooner, that’s the big target.

Balor made his main roster debut back in August and won the inaugural WWE Universal Title by defeating Seth Rollins at “Summerslam 2016”. However that match saw him wreck his shoulder, meaning he had to immediately vacate the title. Balor’s recovery time was said to be about six months.

While I might sound like a paranoid nutjob for this, the first thing I thought of was John Cena returning at “Royal Rumble 2008” a full two months ahead of schedule. Cena had suffered a torn pectoral muscle in October 2007 and was rumored to possibly be missing the upcoming “Wrestlemania XXIV”. In a big surprise, Cena entered the Royal Rumble at #30 nearly three months early. I could easily see something similar for Balor here, but maybe I’m overthinking this.

Are you excited for Balor’s return? What do you want to see him do at “Wrestlemania XXXIII?” Let us know in the comments below.
