The Empress of several tomorrows. As you might have heard, Asuka has been dominating the NXT women’s division for a very long time now, having taken the NXT Women’s Title from Bayley back at “Takeover: Dallas” on April 1, 2016. Since then she’s run over several challengers with almost no one giving her even the slightest problem. It turns out there’s something else to add to her list of accomplishments.
According to WrestleZone.com, as of this weekend,
Asuka has officially passed Paige for the longest singles title reign in NXT history. Paige’s record was actually 308 days
but the official number reported was 294 days due to some tape delay issues. If Asuka can survive until March 31 (the day before the next Takeover), she will surpass Ascension for the longest reign in the promotion’s history.
Is this really a surprise? Asuka has dominated everyone in her path with only Mickie James giving her a real run for her money. She’s run through the division like it’s not even there and it’s been a very fast year. Even in a match with three challengers at once there was barely any real threat, which is quite the impressive feat.
Who do you think takes the title from Asuka? When do you see her coming up to the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
