Is it that surprising? Stables are a great way to get a lot of people on television at the same time. Perhaps the greatest stable of all time, the Four Horsemen, were put together in one interview segment to save time and the team grew as a result. They are still rather prominent today but now one of them seems to have come to an end after a rather rocky history.
Back in August 2020, the Retribution stable debuted on WWE TV. What started off as a promising group quickly turned into a bit of a mess, as the team lost its focus along with most of its matches. Even adding in Mustafa Ali as the team’s leader did little to make things better and it was clear that Retribution was in trouble. Now things seem to have fallen completely apart.
Ali lost to United States Champion Riddle on the Fastlane Kickoff Show. After the match, Ali blamed the rest of Retribution for the loss. As a result, Reckoning and Slapjack walked off on their own, leaving T-Bar and Mace to leave Ali laying with a double chokeslam. There is no word on if the rest of Retribution will continue on without Ali or if the team will all go their separate ways.
This was nasty. Check out the split plus the rest of the Kickoff Show:
Opinion: This is long overdue as it’s not like the team has had any kind of success. It was rare to see them win more than a match or two in a row and it isn’t like they have any major victories. Just let Mace and T-Bar go after the Tag Team Titles like they should have months ago and everything should be fine. There is no reason to keep Retribution going like this so let us see what else the members can do on their own.
