Welcome back? Injuries can be absolutely brutal for any wrestler because you never know how long someone is going to be out. Some of them are a lot worse than others though and you can have a pretty solid idea of what is coming based on how bad something is. That was the case last year when a promising star was injured but now things are starting to look better.

Last year saw the debut of a new star in NXT as Ridge Holland came over from NXT UK. The former rugby league star was trying his hand at professional wrestling and looked pretty good to start. Holland had some rather impressive power skills and seemed primed for a big run as Pat McAfee’s main enforcer. That was not the case though as McAfee suffered a horrible leg injury to put him on the shelf. He was going to need time to heal and now he might have turned a corner.

According to Fightful Select, Holland has bee spotted at the WWE Performance Center rehabbing his leg. However, he is still not expected to be back in the ring for a long time to come as his broken leg was a very severe injury. Holland was in line for a major push and several plans had to be changed due as a result. There is no word on when he is expected back in the ring.

Holland showed some potential. Check out what he could do when he was healthy:

Danny Burch vs. Ridge Holland: WWE NXT, Oct. 7, 2020

Ridge Holland enters The Cameron Grimes Stepping Stones to The Moon Match: WWE NXT, Sept. 30, 2020

Johnny Gargano w/Candice LeRae vs. Ridge Holland – Second-Chance Match: WWE NXT, Aug. 19, 2020

Opinion: Holland is a bit of a throwback as he is almost entirely based around his power game. That is something you would see more of in previous generations but it was cool to see him getting a chance. I’m not sure what he is going to do when he gets back but it is clear that NXT sees something in him. Once he is healthy again, it could be nice to see what he can do.
