Watch: After SmackDown, Fans Got to See a Title Match… and a Poem?

You might have heard this one before. Dark matches can work multiple ways as you don’t know if you’re going to get a surprise or something advertised in advanced.

In a lot of cases it’s just a quick match to send the fans home happy but in some cases you have to ignore a lot of what happened earlier in the night to really make it work.

The dark match at tonight’s “Smackdown Live” show saw Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose successfully defending against the Miz. This is a bit of a stretch as Ambrose was beaten down earlier in the night by Baron Corbin but was still able to successfully defend his title.

There is no word on whether or not Ambrose was selling the beating from earlier in the night.

As a bonus, here’s Miz reading a Valentine’s Day poem to his wife Maryse.

I’m not going to get mad at this one as it’s just a dark match and there’s a chance that Ambrose sold the injuries and won off something like a rollup. Either way, he probably should have been selling something like being thrown onto electrical equipment which sent off sparks on the landing.
