That’s one way to do it. There are a lot of top wrestling stars in the world today and many of them have wrestled elsewhere throughout their careers. That can make for some interesting moments as some of these wrestlers are going to mention their pasts at some point. Occasionally you are going to see someone else mention the history, and that seems to be the case again.
Earlier this year, the Good Brothers made their surprise debuts in Impact Wrestling and instantly became some of the biggest stars in the company. Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows have been stars everywhere they go, including Japan, where they were part of the Bullet Club with AJ Styles. That relationship carried over to WWE and now it is tying into their new home, at least a little bit.
This has to be seen to be believed. Check out how Impact Wrestling got out of this:
This week on Impact Wrestling, Swoggle appeared as a miniature version of Styles, defeating Ethan Page in a match. Page had agreed to face what Anderson described as a “phenomenal opponent” in order to get a future title shot and Swoggle was the surprise choice. According to Fightful Select, Swoggle will be impersonating Styles going forward, even being listed as the Wee-Nomenal One, AJ Swoggle.
Opinion: I don’t think I see this one getting over very well and hopefully it is the kind of thing that doesn’t last all that long. Parody wrestlers can work every now and then but they do not have the longest shelf life. Swoggle is a talented guy, but having him be the payoff week after week is not exactly the kind of thing that is going to work more than maybe two or three weeks.
What do you think of the idea? Who else should Swoggle impersonate? Let us know in the comments below.
