It’s not done yet. A title match is the easiest thing in the world to book in wrestling. You have a champion and then you have someone who wants to be champion. A match between the two is booked and you have almost everything you need. Once the match is set, all you have to do is let the people yell at or fight each other and the build is done. That is where NXT shines and they did the short form version this week.
The biggest story in NXT at the moment is the split of the Undisputed Era, as Adam Cole turned on the team at Takeover: Vengeance Day and then completed the split in the ensuing weeks. NXT Champion Finn Balor has been brought into the feud as well, with the title being one of the main ways to get Cole’s attention. A title match between Balor and Cole has been set for next week’s show and the two were pushing it hard after this week’s episode ended.
It was pretty intense. Check out what happened after NXT went off the air:
WWE has posted a new video from after this week’s NXT, featuring Cole and Balor going face to face in the ring. This followed Cole coming out to stare Balor down after Balor defeated Roderick Strong in the show’s main event. The two do not get physical as they are separated by referees, but they do shout at each other for a few minutes. Balor issued the challenge for the title match earlier in the evening.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that should work out well because the two of them are capable of having a heck of a showdown. They have had some good showdowns before and I could go for a third match between them. I’m not sure who is going to be leaving the match as champion and that could make for some very interesting options to the show, which opens up some great doors for Takeover.
