It kind of makes sense. The WWE 24/7 Title has turned into one of the most energized things in all of wrestling with the title running around almost every week. For a few weeks, the title became rather entertaining though things have calmed down a bit, mainly due to the lack of insanity. The most important factor to a title like that is to have things going nuts all the time and that has not been the case for a long time now. That may have changed over the course of the week.
During this week’s Monday Night Raw, the 24/7 Champion Samir Singh was attacked by Erick Rowan, who showed no interest in winning the title and went on to win his match instead. Singh and his brother Sunil went to the trainer’s room, where R-Truth went on to pin him to become champion for the 22nd time. That wasn’t it for the title though, as R-Truth managed to knock himself out at a WWE Town Hall corporate meeting in Stamford, Connecticut, allowing a corporate employee named Michael Giacco to pin him for the title. Triple H would congratulate Giacco on Twitter as Giacco escaped with the title.
Of course WWE has footage of the title changes. Check out what happened with both switches:
Opinion: This does help the title situation, but how many times can R-Truth run into something to lose the title to a random person, only to get it back a few days later? The joke still has some steam, but that steam is running out in a hurry. R-Truth has now won the title twenty two times and it hasn’t been all that interesting in a while now. That was almost always going to be the way the title went, but that doesn’t make it any better. Come up with something and it could be re-energized, but that doesn’t seem likely at the moment.
