Moxley is versatile. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to entertainment. It’s true that they are acting, but at the same time they are often only seen as wrestlers. That leaves them with a pretty basic group of roles to play when they land the occasional film or television spot, but they can play those roles rather well. A pretty big name in wrestling today is getting such a role.

Last year at AEW Double Or Nothing, Jon Moxley made his big debut at the end of the show in a special surprise. Moxley was instantly one of the bigger names in the company and went on to win the World Title at Revolution in February. He has held the title ever since, becoming the longest reigning champion in the title’s history. That makes him a star, as does another project he landed outside of AEW.

This looks cool. Check out what Moxley has gotten into:

A trailer has been released for Moxley’s new film Cagefighter, in which he plays a professional wrestler named Randy Stone who agrees to face a mixed martial artist in a special match. The film also includes Christian and footage from AEW. Moxley is billed second in the film, which will be released both in theaters and on demand on Friday October 9.

Opinion: That actually looked cool and that’s a good sign. You can often see when a movie looks like a B movie that belongs going straight to DVD at best. This may be something similar but it does look like a movie that might make it to theaters. That’s a pretty big upgrade over some of these movies that wrestlers wind up in so this could be quite a bit worse. If Moxley had a good time making it and can get somewhere further with it later, good for him.
