A little surprise never hurt anyone. NXT is a rather interesting place compared to other territories. Instead of a promotion that is supposed to stand on its own like a traditional independent company, it’s a developmental area for WWE. That means the people are supposed to be moving up to the main roster at some point, but what about having someone come down there for a change?
The town should give you a hint. Check out a major star making an appearance at an NXT house show:
NXT’s Twitter account has posted a video showing Rey Mysterio appear at an NXT house show in San Diego earlier in the week. Mysterio answered an open challenge from Kona Reeves and took care of him in short order. This is something that Mysterio has been doing on recent SmackDown Live house shows, including defeating Aiden English at a show earlier in the month.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes NXT so much fun. While they have enough of a roster to pop the crowd every time, it’s something special to see an all time great like Mysterio. He’s the kind of person that will get a reaction no matter what, including at a smaller show like this one. It’s the kind of thing that you don’t get to see very often and being in Mysterio’s hometown makes it even better.
