Video: First Names Revealed For United Kingdom Championship Tournament

Filling in the brackets. If there’s one thing WWE has grown to love in recent months, it’s tournaments. At one point earlier this year, there were three tournaments going on at the same time with the Cruiserweight Title tournament, the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team classic and the Mixed Match Challenge. We haven’t had one in all of a month though and that means it’s time to set up something else. There’s already a tournament scheduled for this summer and now we know some names.

WWE U.K. Championship Tournament roster reveal - Part 1

WWE has released a video revealing the first eight of sixteen names who will be taking part in the upcoming United Kingdom Championship Tournament. The tournament, which will begin at the Download Festival from June 8-10, will wrap up on June 18 with the winner receiving a United Kingdom Title shot on June 19 against Pete Dunne, assuming Dunne is still champion then. The other eight names will be revealed later this week.

The names include:

Zack Gibson
Joe Coffey
Jack Gallagher
Dave Mastiff
Kenny Williams
El Ligero
Joseph Conners
Amir Jordan

Opinion: There’s no secret to the fact that WWE is trying to get its foot in the door of the United Kingdom wrestling scene and their efforts so far have been highly successful. Between the incredible matches from Tyler Bate and Dunne to the rather fun tournament to crown the inaugural United Kingdom Champion, there’s a lot of good to go around from the area. If WWE treats this like they’ve treated the earlier stuff, everything should be a lot of fun.
