VIDEO: Canceled WWE Series Returning With Special Show

One more show. WWE produces all kinds of wrestling shows during the course of a single week, to the point where it can be difficult to keep track of everything that they have going on. There are different kinds of shows presented every week and WWE continues to add in new ones on a somewhat regular basis. Every now and then they take one away, but now we have one of their canceled shows is making a quick comeback.

Back in 2019, SmackDown moved from the USA Network over to FOX in one of the biggest changes the company has ever seen. Moving over to FOX opened up several new doors for WWE, including a weekly discussion show called Backstage. The show featured a panel of hosts discussing the week in WWE. The series was canceled less than a year in, but it is not completely dead.

The WWE On FOX Twitter account has released a video from Renee Young, announcing that Backstage will be returning for a one off episode on January 30, the night before the Royal Rumble. Young revealed that the show will include Paige and Booker T., both of whom were part of the majority of the show’s original episodes. Backstage has returned for previews of special events since its cancellation.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes me smile as it lets you know that you are in for something special. The Royal Rumble is one of the most important shows of the WWE year and it makes sense to have something special to help build it up. Backstage is not the kind of show that is going to work every single week so putting it out there like this is the best way to use an idea that works rather well in smaller doses.
