It’s been a ride. In less than a week, WWE will be back in front of a full capacity of fans for the first time in nearly a year and a half. That is the kind of change that can shake up the company in a very good way and it marks the end of an era. While that era might not have been the best, there were some great things about it. Now a WWE star is looking back at those things.
SmackDown’s Bayley has released a video on her Twitter looking at the Thunderdome as it is being taken apart. This is the final version of the Thunderdome, which has been held in three different venues: the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. WWE will be back on the road starting with the July 16 SmackDown from Houston, Texas.
The Thunderdome began back in August 2020 and was WWE new location after leaving the WWE Performance Center. Rather than having physical fans in attendance, the venue was filled with digital fans, made up of people watching the events from home. WWE’s first major event in the first Thunderdome was Summerslam 2020 and the most recent major event was Hell In A Cell.
The Thunderdome has been awesome. Check out something from each of the three, plus Bayley’s look back:
Opinion: I know the Thunderdome got old in a hurry and the digital screens were a bit hard to take, but the venues were far better than the Performance Center. The shows from the Performance Center felt like they were taking place inside a small box and it did not work. The Thunderdome might not have been ideal, but it felt like a major arena and opened things up so much more. The place wasn’t great, but it was necessary.
