That would explain a few things. You never know when you might see a wrestler get injured. Wrestling is a physical sport by definition and when you make things all the more athletic and acrobatic, the danger factor is cranked up to another level. That can cause some issues for anyone, and it was certainly the case last week. Now we know a bit more about it.
Takeover: XXX is coming up on August 22 and will feature a huge ladder match for the vacant North American Title. The original plans called for a five way match for the title but an injury to Dexter Lumis caused the situation to be changed. Lumis injured his ankle while winning his qualifying match and had to be replaced. So what happened to Lumis and when did it happen?
According to Bryan Alvarez on the F4WOnline.com forums, Lumis’ ankle injury took place when he flipped over the top rope and landed on his feet. The spot was edited during the television show as Lumis was injured when he landed. Lumis went on to finish and win the match by defeating Timothy Thatcher and Finn Balor. There is no word on how long Lumis will be out of action.
Lumis’ injury changed a lot of things. Check out how the match went down:
Opinion: I’m still not sure I get the point of Lumis but at the same time you never want to see someone get hurt. He was getting a push and given the amount of talent in NXT, someone who gets hurt could have a very long time regaining their spot. Hopefully Lumis gets another chance to come back later on, because NXT certainly sees something in him and that isn’t a chance everyone gets.
What do you think of Lumis? What should he do when he gets back? Let us know in the comments below.
