It helps to have friends in high places. Earlier this summer, WWE announced that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were being placed in the roles of Executive Directors of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live respectively. Heyman has been a part of WWE television for years now but Bischoff has not had a featured role in nearly fifteen years. So who was a driving force in bringing him back?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bruce Prichard was at least somewhat responsible for bringing Bischoff back to the company in his new executive role. In addition to helping get him back into the company, Prichard will also be helping Bischoff transition into his new role next week, when Bischoff is officially in charge. While Bischoff will be taking over, Ryan Ward will still be the head writer of the show, albeit under Bischoff’s vision.

Prichard and Bischoff have had some differences before. Check out the two of them debating the Monday Night War:

Opinion: That’s a bit of a surprise but WWE bringing Bischoff back in could go several different ways. Prichard has been around for a very long time and Bischoff will be seen as an outsider, but the two of them seem to have some kind of a connection. Hopefully it goes well, because it’s not like things can get that much worse. Something fresh is needed and hopefully Prichard made a good move.
