This is still a wrestling show right? Lashley has been a fixture in the TNA World Title scene since his first title win way back in 2014. The idea that TNA is trying to push is no one can equal Lashley, even though he’s now a four time champion. However, there is now a big name in the company to help with that issue.

Last week on “Impact Wrestling”, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett appeared in the promotion and called Lashley out for his behavior as TNA World Champion. Barnett wanted to show Lashley how to carry himself as a champion and challenged him to a title match. Lashley agreed and this week on the show, it was announced that Lashley would defend against Barnett on the March 2 episode of “Impact Wrestling”. This will be Barnett’s second match in the company.

Opinion: I’ve never liked the idea of two MMA guys facing each other in a wrestling promotion as two people of the same style rarely work well together. Thankfully Lashley is capable of wrestling a standard power style of professional wrestling so it won’t be a full on clash of the same styles. I don’t know if Barnett’s reasoning for wanting to fight Lashley is strong enough but at least they’re trying someone new.
