Well that’s a surprise. WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world but they’re not opposed to working with some other promotions. Usually that means a smaller promotion, and that has been the case with Evolve Wrestling. On occasion, WWE will send wrestlers to the promotion for cameo appearances, but the most recent appearance contained a bit of a surprise.
At tonight’s Evolve 114 event, the Street Profits of NXT won the Evolve Tag Team Titles by defeating Chris Dickinson and Jaka. The title change marks the first time that a WWE contracted wrestler has won another promotion’s title in several years. There is no word on when the Street Profits will return to Evolve or who else from WWE will be making an appearance with the promotion.

In case you’re not familiar with the Profits:
Opinion: That’s pretty cool. How many fans would have guessed that the titles would actually change hands? It feels like a match designed to give Evolve a little star power from the big wrestling company but now it comes off like there’s a chance of something surprising. That helps for the future and another team will get to beat an NXT team to take the titles back. This doesn’t hurt WWE at all and even makes them look good while Evolve gets some extra attention. Everyone benefits.
