Sounds like a plan to me. Last November, NXT reached a new level when they won the Battle for Brand Supremacy at Survivor Series 2019. The win showed that NXT was more than just a developmental territory as they could challenge and defeat the main roster shows. This changed everything for NXT and made them even more must see than before. Now we know what is next to see.

Last weekend, NXT took part in the Worlds Collide event, featuring talents from both NXT and NXT UK. The show took place over Royal Rumble weekend, which is usually a time for a Takeover event. That was not the case this year though, meaning that Takeover would have to come later. The next Takeover will take place on February 16 and now we know what the main event is going to be.

This week on NXT, Tommaso Ciampa was named the new #1 contender to the NXT Title. NXT Champion Adam Cole had signed to face anyone and didn’t care who got the shot, allowing Ciampa to attack the Undisputed Era with a pipe and sign the contract in blood. This will be Ciampa’s first title shot since being stripped of the title last year due to needing neck injury.

I’m certainly in. Check out the champion and the challenger going face to face:

Opinion: Works for me. There is all kinds of talent down in NXT and Cole is as good as anyone else down there. While he has defeated several top challengers, he is going to need someone fresh and that is how we got here today. I’m not sure how the title match is going to go but they certainly have something interesting with this one. NXT has the reputation of being able to pull off some great Takeover matches and this should be the next one.

How do you see the title match going? Who will take the title from Cole? Let us know in the comments below.
