Bigger shows do better. After this week’s “Monday Night Raw” ratings were up only slightly, “Smackdown Live’s” ratings were a good bit better. Led by two title matches and a big match between Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper, last night’s episode of “Smackdown Live” saw the show rise to its strongest rating in six weeks.
According to Showbuzzdaily.com, the show drew a .88 rating in the 18-49 demographic and an average of 2.637 million viewers. For comparison, last week’s show drew a .73 rating and 2.361 million viewers, meaning this week’s numbers were up 21% and 12% respectively. These are the highest numbers in six weeks and, possibly more importantly, they are just behind “Monday Night Raw’s” audience of 2.956 million.

This is what good storytelling and in ring action can do for you. “Smackdown Live” has become the go to show for solid wrestling and logical week to week progression. There were two title matches last night and several stories were advanced. It makes for a much more enjoyable night of wrestling than “Monday Night Raw” which seems to still be doing the same stories they’ve had for months.
