She who has the gold has some of the power. With the all women’s pay per view Evolution coming up on October 28, the women’s divisions have received a ton of attention in recent weeks. There have been a lot of names brought back in for the show and some of the matches are going to be very interesting. However, you need something more than just dream matches, which is where things may be going.
According to Joe Peisich on Barnburner’s Fired Up podcast by way of Cagesideseats.com, there is a chance that a women’s midcard title could be introduced to the company in the next few months. This is in addition to the long rumored Women’s Tag Team Titles which have been talked about for several months but have yet to actually debut. If they are brought in, the titles could be announced early next year.
Picture this but times three.
Opinion: I really hope this isn’t the case. Consider either the upcoming Evolution show or this past January’s women’s Royal Rumble. How many women had to be brought in to fill in the ranks? Looking at the Royal Rumble, eighteen of the women were on the main roster, two were from NXT and ten more were legends being brought in. If the women’s divisions are that thin, is it a good idea to go from two titles to five? That seems to be spreading things far too thin and that’s never a good idea.
Do you like the idea of these titles? Who should be the first to hold either? Let us know in the comments below.
