What’s in a name? WWE has a lot of pay per views and some may say that they’ve started to run out of good ideas for the names. With this year’s Super Showdown and names like Battleground, Fastlane and naming shows after matches on the card, there’s not exactly a ton of inspiration in some of the names. There are several options to pick from over the years, and now some of them may be coming back.
According to Brad Shepard of Barnburner.ca, WWE is considering changing a variety of the names of their current pay per views to names used by WCW. Two of the main names being speculated for replacements are Halloween Havoc and Starrcade, the latter of which was used for a one off house show in 2017. There is no word on when this would take place, but there have already been changes to the WWE pay per view schedule with Clash of Champions being removed.
There’s quite the history in these shows.
Opinion: This could work quite well if WWE chooses to go down this route. Some of the names they have at the moment really aren’t all that great and since they own all the trademarks already, I have no idea why they don’t use some of them. Several of them are much better than the current crop and it’s not like anyone but WWE profits off the WCW names being used again.
