Champion non grata. Last week Brock Lesnar jumped into the UFC Octagon again, shoving new UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier and challenging him to a fight. Now if you thought this was going to be the way that Lesnar was launched back into the main event scene of WWE, you would be rather incorrect. For reasons not clear at the time, Lesnar wasn’t mentioned once on Monday Night Raw. We now have the reason why he wasn’t a hot topic.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon made the decision to have Lesnar not mentioned for the sake of keeping the focus on Extreme Rules, which took place later in the week. Lesnar is currently not advertised for any upcoming shows, including Extreme Rules. McMahon reportedly said that Lesnar would be mentioned again “when he’s being offered” to the WWE audience and when WWE “can capitalize on it”. Also, McMahon wants Lesnar to be portrayed as turning his back on the fans in the hope of making the fans cheer for Roman Reigns when the two fight again.

What would they talk about? Maybe this.

Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier's UFC beef explained: WWE Now

Opinion: This is a tale of two ideas with the first making logical sense. With Extreme Rules just a week away and no chance of Lesnar appearing at the show, there is little reason to hype up Lesnar. I mean, the fact that the Universal Champion isn’t on the show is hardly a surprise these days. On the other hand though, I’m not sure why McMahon thinks the fans are going to cheer Reigns against Lesnar when it has failed so many times before. You would think he would learn at some point.

Do you agree with McMahon’s lines of thinking? Would the fans ever boo him over Reigns? Let us know in the comments below.
