Take two? Earlier this year, John Cena called out the Undertaker for a match at WrestleMania 34 and Undertaker answered, albeit not until the night of the show. The match lasted less than three minutes with Cena managing to hit a single suplex before being Tombstoned for the pin. A rematch was rumored, but a new report suggests that it was never even a possibility.
This has been done before.
According to Dirtysheets.com, the rumored match between Undertaker and Cena was never actually set or seriously considered in the first place. Cena will be busy with his filming commitments for the upcoming Voyages of Doctor Doolittle film and wasn’t going to be able to build or even have a match with Undertaker at the moment. Cena hasn’t wrestled since the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27 and Undertaker last wrestled at a house show on July 7.
Opinion: I’m hoping we don’t see this match again, at least not at this point. The build to the WrestleMania match was so strange with Cena doing all of the talking and not actually making the match official until the night of the show. Now we have eighteen days until Summerslam and nothing has been said yet. Even if things were started on the upcoming Monday Night Raw, they would have thirteen days to set it up. If we’re going to get the big match between the two of them, give it the time that it deserves.
