They finally made it. The Cruiserweight Title is in a weird place. 205 Live has been getting better but it’s not exactly making any progress. At the end of the day, the company doesn’t seem to care about it whatsoever and that’s not likely to change anytime soon. It would be nice to see them get any kind of attention, and it seems that the attention might have started today.

Say it loud and proud.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match set for SummerSlam: 205 Live Exclusive, July 30, 2018

In a new video on the WWE YouTube page, 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick announced that Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander will defend against Drew Gulak at Summerslam. Gulak became #1 contender last week when he won a four way match, defeating TJP, Mustafa Ali and Hideo Itami. If the match makes the main show, it will be the first time since October that the title was defended on a pay per view instead of on a Kickoff Show.

Check out our 205 Live results to see how Gulak earned his shot.

Opinion: I’ll take what I can get at this point. 205 Live just doesn’t get the attention that it deserves but just seeing the match taking place on one of the biggest stages is a good sign. I don’t believe that it’s going to make the actual show but that’s one of those things you just have to get used to. Gulak winning the title is the right way to go and hopefully it brings some new eyes to 205 Live.
