Not so fast my friend. Earlier this week the big rumor was that WWE might be trying to buy Ring of Honor from the Sinclair Broadcasting Group. While the negotiations were billed as secret, one major player in the whole thing seems to think there’s absolutely nothing to them: Ring of Honor.
In an interview with CBS Sports, Ring of Honor COO Joe Koff denied the reports:
This doesn’t mean there won’t be some business with in the future, including using Ring of Honor footage:
“I’m always open to any conversation. We do business with them if they want to do a DVD or VOD if they need footage from early matches they do come to us. We are open to work with them on that basis because it doesn’t hurt us. It actually helps us.”
Opinion: I don’t know if Ring of Honor is going to be sold to WWE but the fact that they have any kind of a relationship with WWE is a good thing. WWE doesn’t need Ring of Honor but if they can give them some business, it’s a positive for both groups. I wouldn’t be complaining if the sale took place but it’s not a necessity.
