Kane hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since the New Year. Though his recent run may not have been great, the absence was conspicuous considering what a workhorse the man had been.

So what’s the Devil’s Favorite Demon up to? Running for office. Yes, according to local news, Glen Jacobs–aka Kane–has filed paperwork that indicates his intention to run for mayor of Knox County Tennessee.

He runs an insurance agency in the city of Knoxville, so his business ties would at least give him a starting point for his political carer. He identifies himself as a Republican.

Jacobs certainly wouldn’t be the first wrestling personality to make a career in politics. Jesse Ventura became governor of Minnesota after a mayoral run. More recently, Terrance Gerin–aka Rhyno–made a failed bid for the Michigan House of Representatives. And, of course, the current president of the United States is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing.

No word yet on whether Jacobs intends to parlay his previous career success in dentistry toward the political bid.

The election will begin in 2018, and I look forward to the political attacks reminding voters that Jacobs portrays a literal demon from hell in a wrestling ring.
