I mean, he has a point. Wrestling has changed a lot in the past year, with wrestlers moving from one company to another, or often just moving from one part of a company to another. That is the case in WWE, as several names from NXT have moved up to the main roster. Some of these names have made a bigger impact than others, but a few of them have become major stars in a hurry.
One of the most important names who made their first impact on the WWE roster in 2019 was Ricochet. Having already become a big star down in NXT, Ricochet hit the ground running on Monday Night Raw, receiving a title shot at WrestleMania 35 and becoming the United States Champion later in the year. His talents were recognized down in NXT and they are again now, though Ricochet is a little surprised.
In a poll on WWE’s Instagram page, Ricochet was named as the 2019 WWE Breakout Star of the Year. This comes after he was named the NXT Breakout Star of the Year in 2018. Ricochet tweeted out a thank you to the fans, but also mentioned that he wasn’t sure how he could still be breaking out in his sixteenth and seventeenth years in professional wrestling. Ricochet also mentioned that he was ready to see what the future held.
It’s funny how in my 16th & 17th year of professional wrestling/sports entrainment I’m still “breaking out”.
Thank you to all my fans and the haters, without you I wouldn’t be here. It’s been a wild, crazy, hella fun journey so far. Let’s see what the future holds!?@WWENXT @WWE pic.twitter.com/qUnO3PXAwc

It’s easy to see why he won. Check out some of Ricochet’s greatest hits on the main roster:
Opinion: Ricochet has that natural star power that you just can’t create. You can feel it when he’s in the ring and it isn’t just because of the flips. Ricochet has figured out how to space his big moves out so that they feel special, which is one of the reasons why he isn’t burning out his welcome in a hurry. He comes off like a star and WWE has treated him like one, even if he keeps breaking out.
How was Ricochet’s 2019? Who would you have given the award to? Let us know in the comments below.
