Report: Universal Title Spoilers for Fastlane and WrestleMania

He’s next. After Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar in less than ninety seconds at “Survivor Series 2016”, he made it clear that he wanted the Raw World Title next. This led to him taking part in the 2017 Royal Rumble where he eliminated Lesnar but was knocked out by the Undertaker. However, his World Title chase isn’t quite over yet.

According to Dave Meltzer on “Wrestling Observer Radio”, the plans at the moment call for Goldberg to defeat Kevin Owens to become champion at “Fastlane 2017” and move on to defend the title against Lesnar at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”. At the moment Owens is set to face Sami Zayn at the house shows leading up to the pay per view though those matches could be turned into non-title matches. If this is true, it would be the third straight year that a World Champion who doesn’t work house shows defends the title at Wrestlemania.

If this is what we have to do, so be it I guess. I have no idea why Goldberg vs. Lesnar is A, main eventing the show and B, needs to be for a World Title. Lesnar winning the title back wouldn’t be interesting and I can’t imagine Goldberg doing much with it either. This comes off like over thinking and a big way to devalue a lot of the rest of the show. But hey, fantasy warfare or something right?
