That doesn’t sound very fair. The big story from WWE this year has been the rapid fire releases. The company has let dozens of wrestler go over the course of the year, continuing a theme from last year. There have been some surprising names let go from the company and that has not been the easiest thing to see. It turns out that it was even harder for one name in particular.
Former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed was released from WWE earlier this year. Reed appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight podcast and revealed that he had signed a new three year extension with the company at the beginning of 2021. He received news of his release while watching SmackDown and thought the call was informing him that he would be starting on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown, as he had been working some dark matches in the weeks before his release. Reed is currently dealing with immigration issues and is in negotiations to start appearing with other wrestling promotions.
Reed was certainly a force in NXT. Check out his time on the show:
Opinion: This was one of the most surprising releases of the lot and I’d love to know why WWE let him go. A theory I’ve heard is that he was too similar to Odyssey Jones so WWE let Reed go, which seems to be quite ridiculous. WWE makes such a big deal about the differences between their rosters and they can’t find a place for two bigger guys? That doesn’t make a ton of sense, but is there any other reason to let Reed go?
What do you think of Reed? Where do you see him going? Let us know in the comments below.
