The real bosses make the decisions. We’re in a weird time for WWE as the company isn’t exactly being well received at the moment. That new reality has caused WWE to change a few things and introduce some new concepts that might boost the ratings a little bit. As it turns out though, one of the bigger ideas that came up recently wasn’t an idea that WWE invented.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE 24/7 Title was not the company’s idea, but rather an idea put forth by the USA Network. USA has not been happy with Monday Night Raw’s declining ratings and presented a few ideas that could boost them. Most of the ideas were viewed as horrible, with the 24/7 Title being the best of the bunch, meaning WWE had little choice but to implement it.
It didn’t go that well. Check out the title’s debut:
Opinion: If this is the best idea they had, I’m almost scared to think of what the other ideas could have been. The problems with Monday Night Raw are a lot deeper than adding another title but WWE doesn’t seem interested in going with what should be some rather simple solutions. There is little reason to sit through a three hour show these days and adding a title for the lowest part of the roster isn’t going to help things.
