That would be a way to go. We are just over a month away from WrestleMania 40 and that means it is time to get ready for the biggest show of the year. WWE has already started making preparations for the event, with several matches already being made. This includes a few twists and turns to get where we are, and now we know something new about how we got here.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Who/When/Where? New Details On Cody Rhodes/Roman Reigns WrestleMania 40 Timeline
Back in January, Cody Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble to earn a WrestleMania title match. In early February, Rhodes turned the title shot over to the Rock, who teased facing Roman Reigns instead of Rhodes getting to challenge. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had planned to run an injury angle to write Rhodes out of the match but ultimately dropped the plans due to CM Punk’s injury. There is no owrd on whether or not Rhodes would have wrestled at WrestleMania in another match.

Opinion: This is certainly a twist and it would have been a way to explain what happened. I’m not sure if the fans would have accepted how it went down, but at last they would have had a way around WWE just not presenting Rhodes. What matters is that we have gotten to where we need to be and WrestleMania has the potential to be something huge, especially with the main event.
