Peyton Royce Recalls Awkward Meeting With Vince McMahon

That’s not a good sign. While he might not be everyone’s favorite in the world of wrestling, there is no one in the industry as powerful or influential as Vince McMahon. A good or bad word from him can change a wrestler’s career trajectory and that has been the case countless times over the years. It seems to have been the case again as of late and not in a good way.

Several WWE wrestlers have been released from their contracts with the company over the course of the year. Some of these have been a lot more surprising than others, including Peyton Royce, who had been a fairly big star during her time with Billie Kay in the IIconics. However, she was released on April 15, along with several other WWE names. Now we might know what caused the sudden release.

During the latest episode of her Off Her Chops podcast with Kay, Royce talked about a meeting that she had with McMahon shortly after the IIconics were sent to different brands. Royce had an idea to present to McMahon, who brushed it off and asked what else she had. Royce did not have any other ideas and McMahon asked what she did for fun. In response, Royce said that she liked to sit on her couch with her dog and watch TV. Royce apologized for being boring, but McMahon said that wasn’t the case. Royce’s response was what she jokingly felt cost her a job in WWE. There is no word on where Royce will sign next.

Opinion: I’m not sure if this is what cost Royce her job, but it probably did not help things. One of the statements that you will hear over and over in wrestling is that the best characters are when someone’s personality is turned way up. If McMahon did not see much personality in Royce, there is a chance that he did not think there was much of a future for her in WWE. I would hope that is not the case, but it is the kind of thing I could see McMahon doing.
