One Up, One Down: Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite As Undefeated Streak Ends

And new! Title changes can be quite the moments in wrestling as they can mark a new development in wrestling. A champion losing can mean a wrestler is getting their big break, even if it comes at the expense of someone’s momentum. That was the case for two people at once this week, as a title change came after the champion lost something else rather valuable in its own right.

Jack Perry defeated Hook this week on AEW Dynamite to win the FTW Title. Perry won the match after hitting Hook in the face with the title, marking the first loss in Hook’s AEW career. Before the match, a video aired showing Perry burying his Jungle Boy persona (as proven by Jungle Boy’s boots going into the grave), meaning he will now be known as Perry going forward.

It was a big deal. Check out the title match, plus the new champ in action:

Opinion: This is something that needed to happen, as Perry has done rather well since embracing his inner villain. It would have been rather strange to see him losing in his first big match after his turn and thankfully AEW understood what they had to do. On the other hand you have Hook getting his first loss, which should set him on the path for revenge and that should be fun.
