Call it a mixed message. With so many wrestlers under the WWE umbrella, the company has to do some things to freshen them up every now and then. Unfortunately there are only so many ways to go about doing that, but one that is more successful than not is turning someone either face or heel. Some work better than others, but a recent one is a little confusing.
Earlier this month, Zelina Vega introduced Angel Garza as a replacement for the injured/suspended Andrade. This was a nice change of pace for NXT fans, who had seen what kind of good things that Garza had been capable of doing. That alone made the move interesting, but then things got a little more confusing after you started looking at the details. One in particular makes the move all the more different.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Garza has been wrestling as a face during recent NXT live events. This comes after Garza has been attacking wrestlers on Monday Night Raw, including attempting to injure Rey Mysterio with a DDT onto the exposed concrete. Also, Garza declared himself as a ladies man while looking at Zelina Vega during this week’s Monday Night Raw, despite being shown proposing to his girlfriend after winning the NXT Cruiserweight Title on December 11, 2019. There is no word on why Garza is portraying different characters on either show.
Garza has been busy as of late. Check out some of his recent actions:
Opinion: I’m not sure what is up with this but it is the kind of thing that makes it seem that WWE and NXT are existing in different worlds. This creates a problem when there is no indication that WWE cares about what happens in NXT, leaving everything kind of wide open. It doesn’t make that big of a difference, but it would be nice to have WWE act like it made a difference.
Which version of Garza do you like better? Does the lack of continuity make NXT look bad? Let us know in the comments below.
