It didn’t go well. There are all kinds of matches that take place throughout the course of any given week and many of them tend to follow similar courses of action. On occasion one of them will be a bit different, which can result in a different kind of reaction as well. That is what took place this week with a rather unique type of match. It received quite the strong reaction online and it is not the most positive.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Next Up: WWE Announces Major Match For WrestleMania Weekend
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Sami Zayn win a six man gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender to the Intercontinental Title. WWE broadcaster Booker T. discussed the match on a recent edition of his Hall Of Fame podcast, revealing that he sat next to Zayn on a plane the following morning. According to Booker T., Zayn was upset over the reaction he was receiving to the match on social media. These reactions may have been due to fans wanting Chad gable, who has a history with Intercontinental Champion Gunther, to win the match instead. Zayn is st to challenge Gunther at WrestleMania.
Zayn has been on a roll as of late. Check out what he has been doing on the Road To WrestleMania:
Opinion: I can see both sides of this, as the fans are going to get behind Gable, but at the same time Zayn has been wanting to get back into the title picture for a good while now. Gable has already had quite the high profile title match but came up short. He might get back into the picture later, but Zayn is a higher level opponent for Gunther on a bigger stage and that is what makes sense here.
