That does not sound good. An injury is one of the worst things that can happen in wrestling as it can completely derail your entire career in the blink of an eye. That’s something you can’t prepare for and all you can do is hope that the injury isn’t too severe and wonder how long it is going to be before they are going to be back in the ring. Sometimes it can be a lot worse than others and the waiting time before you know how bad the injury is can be a nightmare. Now we have a better idea of the nature of a recent injury and it isn’t good.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Xavier Woods’ injury earlier this week could be a worst case scenario. There is a belief that the injury is a torn Achilles tendon, though that is not certain. Woods was injured during a tag team match in Australia and had to be helped out of the ring. He tweeted about an Achilles tendon injury but did not go into detail about how severe the injury was. An Achilles tendon tear could put Woods on the shelf for around nine months if not longer.

It could be a long time before you see him again. Check out what might be Woods’ last televised match for a good while:

Opinion: Egads man. This is the kind of injury that can really change a career and rock you completely. New Day is going to be in a very different place if Woods is gone for about a year and that seems to be the case. Woods is the best talker of the team and while Kofi Kingston and Big E. can more than hold up their ends of a microphone, this is going to be a noticeable absence. I can’t imagine Woods will be out there on crutches every week and there is a real chance that New Day may be done by the time Woods gets back. Without every member of the team for that long, I’m not sure if it can actually exist the entire time.

What do you think of Woods? Will the team survive without him? Let us know in the comments below.
