We need someone new. Titles are a big deal in NXT because they have done a great job of making them feel like something that matter. Since the beginning of the promotion, NXT has decided that their titles are important and know how to keep them looking important. Anything from the NXT Title to a #1 contenders match to the Tag Team Titles is considered important and that was the case again this week.
The Women’s Revolution has changed a lot of things in WWE and a lot of that started down in NXT. Back in 2014, NXT introduced a Women’s Title with Paige becoming the inaugural champion by defeating Emma. Things took off from there, with all kinds of future top level WWE stars holding the title. The importance has never stopped and now we have a new challenger on the horizon.
This week on NXT, Tegan Nox won a #1 contenders fatal four way elimination match to earn a shot at NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai next week on the second night of the Great American Bash. Nox last eliminated Dakota Kai in a match also including Mia Yim and Candice LeRae. This will be Nox’s first ever televised title shot, though she has challenged for the titles at live events.
Nox has some serious potential. Check out some of her highlights:
Opinion: Nox is a bit of a surprising winner as I would have bet on Kai winning. I can certainly go with the surprising win though as Nox is someone with all of the potential in the world. Let her show off what kinds of things she can do, even if she comes up short in her shot at the title. It’s a different way to go and that is a good thing, but if we can have a better match as a result, even better.
