We’ve got a main event. After what isn’t the biggest surprise in the world, we now have the new #1 contender crowned for the NXT Title. This week on “NXT”, we had a fatal four way elimination match to determine who would challenge NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT’s “Takeover: San Antonio” on January 28, 2017.

On the show, Bobby Roode defeated Andrade Cien Almas, Roderick Strong and Tye Dillinger to earn the title shot. Roode has had a lot of success so far in NXT, having remained undefeated on TV and defeating Dillinger at “Takeover: Toronto”.

Roode’s “Glorious” theme song has caught on very strongly with the NXT audience, who sing the lyrics during Roode’s entrances.

This was one of the more obvious ideas in a long time as there’s just no reason to keep Roode away from the title scene any longer. Roode vs. Nakamura is a somewhat odd title program but NXT has long since earned the benefit of the doubt. It also helps that Roode is capable of pulling this off and would be a great choice for a Ric Flair style champion, which would be a change of pace for NXT.

Did you expect Roode to win the match? Do you think he wins the title? Let us know in the comments below.
