According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the majority of the UK talents will now be receiving raises in their new contracts. The older deals were for about $20,000 a year while the new ones are now worth about $31,730 (£ 24,000). These new contracts can be canceled at the four and eight month marks and have clauses barring the wrestlers from appearing for promotions with either television deals or a “major” online presence. In theory, these clauses are meant to keep the wrestlers from working for the new World of Sport promotion.
Everyone has to start somewhere.
Opinion: I’m not sure what the point is in WWE going after a promotion which had one show over a year and a half ago and is now looking at a ten episode series. Maybe WWE needs to think they have some sort of competition, even though this is nowhere near the level to give WWE any kind of threat. That being said, if we get to see more great wrestling, I think I can live with the problem.
