Shortly after the brand split in 2016, one of the most interesting ideas was the tag team Cesaro and Sheamus formed. For two years, “The Bar” has become a staple of Raw’s tag team division, but their run on SmackDown Live hasn’t lived up to the hype thus far. In fact, they’ve actually missed a lot of television recently and no one seems to know why.

Despite their absence from SmackDown Live, Cesaro and Sheamus have been working against The New Day during recent WWE live events. Unfortunately, this means The Bar is dealing with the same creative issues that Bobby Roode and others have been dealing with since WWE made the decision to combine both brands onto one PPV every month.

Based on the last few editions of the show, The New Day is working with SAnitY heading into Extreme Rules. It seems that The Bar will be forced to wait on the sidelines until an opportunity arises for them to get back on WWE television. Of course, there are some other options for Cesaro and Sheamus on SmackDown aside from waiting for a rivalry.

For instance, WWE officials have been doing something interesting with tag teams over the past few weeks. The Revival has started a feud with Roman Reigns on Raw. Harper and Rowan began a feud with Daniel Bryan before Kane got involved. If WWE wants to use tag teams to feud with a top star, The Bar could do the same thing on SmackDown.

Also, there are plenty of chances for Cesaro and Sheamus to wrestle as singles stars on SmackDown. Sooner or later, the duo is going to split and a lot of people still believe The Swiss Superman could make a major splash in the main event scene if he were given a real chance. The point is having The Bar sit on the sidelines really doesn’t help anyone.

Do you believe The Bar has run its course on WWE television?
