It’s good to see that he is moving on. There are a lot of people working in WWE at any given time. With so many people involved, you are going to have some turnover both in and out of the ring. That is the kind of thing that is always going to take place and it can happen at the commentary desk as well as with the wrestlers themselves. That is the case again today but one of the people involved seems to be moving on.
Commentary is one of the most important aspects that you might overlook in wrestling. With so many things going on in wrestling, you need to have a guide out there to let you know where the stories are going. The announcers tell you that the company wants showcased and that is the case every single week in WWE. One commentator will be doing something else though and that’s a good thing.
Vic Joseph has announced on Instagram that he will be joining the Cleveland Cavaliers broadcast team in some form for the second half of the season. This comes after Joseph was removed from the Monday Night Raw commentary team last month, with Tom Phillips taking his place. Joseph is still employed by WWE but is currently not appearing on any of their shows. There is no word on if his new deal with the Cavaliers will extend past the end of this season.
Commentary is a very crucial job. Check out some of the best calls ever:
Opinion: Good for Joseph. Broadcasting is something that can be done in a variety of places and just because you’re not on WWE TV anymore doesn’t mean your skills need to go to waste. Joseph has worked in NBA broadcasting before so maybe that is a better path forward for him. If WWE is happy with this then so be it, as Mauro Ranallo still does commentary on boxing events. Maybe this gets Joseph somewhere else and if so, good for him.
