It could be a little while. There are all kinds of ways to take someone out of a wrestling show and that can make for some interesting situations. You never know when you might not be seeing someone again for the time being, though sometimes you can tell that someone is going away for awhile. That was the case last week when a certain legend was knocked out of action for the time being.
Last week on SmackDown, Seth Rollins defeated Edge in a Summerslam rematch by using the Stomp. As a result, Edge was stretchered out of the arena with a neck injury and taken away in an ambulance. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this angle was used to get rid of Edge for several months, as he is only on a part time contract. Therefore, it is easier to write Edge off of television with injury angles to explain his absences.
Edge has been fairly awesome in his most recent comeback. Check out how he was put on the shelf, plus what he has done recently:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes a lot of sense as Edge can only wrestle a few times a year. If that is the case, at least let someone, Rollins in this case, get something out of his absence. It is something that works out rather well and the angle was quite the success. Now just find a way to capitalize on it and don’t waste what you have built up in the first place.
