It’s a different time. There have been all kinds of changes to the wrestling world this year and some of them have been rather jarring. At the top of the list though is Endeavor becoming the new owners of WWE, leaving Vince McMahon no longer in charge. That is a change which could lead to a variety of different paths forward and now we have an idea of one such major change.

Over the weekend, CM Punk made a surprise return to WWE at Survivor Series, following a nearly ten year hiatus from the company. According to Fightful Select, McMahon was not involved in the Punk deal, which was put together by Triple H and WWE CEO Nick Khan. McMahon had previously been against Punk returning. Punk is currently set to appear on this week’s Monday Night Raw.

Opinion: This is one of those things that still doesn’t feel right, as McMahon has been in charge of pretty much every decision made in WWE over the last forty years of so. Things really have entered into a new era and it is going to be interesting to see what happens without McMahon there making every decision. We should be in for some big changes, and so far at least, this one seems positive.
