Maybe it’s the lack of leadership? WWE is not in the best of places at the moment and it is hard to really pin down why. While the smaller shows have been a lot better, Monday Night Raw and SmackDown live have been some of the weaker offerings that WWE has presented in a long time. While it isn’t clear what the main problem is, something very different took place this week.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the main WWE bosses were nowhere to be seen at this week’s major television tapings. Vince McMahon was gone with corporate issues that had to be solved, meaning Kevin Dunn was gone as well. At the same time, Stephanie McMahon did not show up because she was not needed and Triple H was in Florida to help with this week’s NXT tapings. Shane McMahon was present but has no creative force in the company. In their absence, writer Ed Koskey was mostly in charge.
So yeah, ignore all of this. Check out one of the last times the McMahons were all in one place:
Opinion: I’m not sure what to think about this. There is no secret to the fact that fans aren’t thrilled with what WWE has been presenting of late and a lot of that seems to be blamed on Vince. However, if he isn’t there and the shows still aren’t all that great, what exactly are you supposed to blame the product on instead? The shows still aren’t great, but what does it say when the bosses being gone changes so little?
