That’s where it goes. There have been a lot of changes in WWE over the last few weeks and some of them have been rather big. With so many moves being made, it can be difficult trying to figure out what has been going on. This involves some people moving from one show to another but some have also stayed where they were before the Draft. One of the latter is making another change.
Over the last few weeks, Lana has been attacked by Nia Jax one time after another, including being driven through the announcers’ table four times in a row. However, Lana managed to survive until the end of a battle royal on last week’s Monday Night Raw and became #1 contender to the Raw Women’s Title despite being put through a table. It turns out that WWE has a little more in mind than just making a #1 contender.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lana winning the battle royal after being put through a table was designed to be part of a “massive” face turn. The idea is that the fans will cheer for someone who was able to fight through such adversity and still win the match. Lana’s title match against Asuka is scheduled to take place on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
It was a big moment. Check out the battle royal that got us here:
Opinion: I’m not sure how effective something like this is going to be as it certainly didn’t feel like some big game changing moment. It felt like something designed to have Lana get back at Natalya for earlier in the night, which isn’t exactly the kind of thing that is going to mean a bit turn. It’s a strange way to go, but then again WWE has been weird with Lana for a long time now.
