The big storyline reveal. Sometimes stories are not given a proper conclusion in wrestling. It could be due to a variety of reasons but almost none of them are satisfactory. Having a story just come to an end with no explanation can be rather annoying as fans are left wondering either what happened or whether it will ever be addressed again. There was another example last year, but now we know the conclusion.
In September 2019, Maria Kanellis revealed that she was pregnant, but in a twist, she suggested that her husband Mike was not the father. This led to a storyline over who the real father was, with Maria suggesting that several names may have been the father rather than Mike. The storyline was abruptly dropped though with no conclusion. Both Mike and Maria were released from the company in April 2020, but now we know what was going to happen.
On Sunday, a fan asks Maria who was going to be revealed as the father of her child. Maria revealed that the story was going to end with Mike being revealed as the father and turning face as a result of recovering from his substance abuse addictions and fighting for his family. Maria was scheduled to turn face as well when she returned from maternity leave but the two of them were both released before the story concluded.
My husband. He was supposed to turn face. And do a story about recovery from addiction and motivation. But… that’s just too good. Too real. Too honest. And of course I was supposed to remain the bad guy. ? until I came back from maternity leave. Baby face momma!! https://t.co/XAlaxD869x

It was a big surprise. Check out how things got started:
Opinion: It makes sense from a storyline perspective but at the same time, there is only so much that you can do in a story when WWE doesn’t care about the wrestlers involved. There is no secret about the fact that the Kanellises were not that high up on the company totem pole and I can’t say I’m surprised nothing ever came of the storyline. It’s a good story, but nothing ever came of it, unfortunately.
